Things are starting to go "right" with the world

In his year-end review, Western Standard publisher Derek Fildebrandt celebrated a resurgent conservatism he called the "new right" which is reshaping politics and culture throughout the world.

2025 will be the Year of the New Right | Western Standard | Derek Fildebrandt:

December 31, 2024 - "The last few years have seen political and social earthquakes across the Western world. The most obvious was the comeback election of Donald Trump in November, but there are other major events pointing toward a (mostly clear) trend for 2025...."

UPDATE, January 22, 2025: This article has been removed in response to a takedown request from The Western Standard (see comments). I would still advise people to read it - it's a good summary of the world situation - so I've left the links up.

  1. Hi there,

I am reaching out regarding the above blog post titled "Things are starting to go 'right' with the world" that references Derek Fildebrandt's year-end review from the Western Standard. While we’re thrilled that you’ve taken an interest in our content and are happy to see it shared, we noticed that the post quotes extensively from our material.

This level of quoting exceeds what we typically permit under copyright guidelines. However, we’re absolutely fine with you quoting up to two paragraphs and including a link back to the original article for your readers to explore further.

We strongly ask that you adjust the post accordingly. Do reach out to us directly at admin@westernstandard.news if you have questions or need assistance in determining the sections to quote.

Thank you for your understanding, and we appreciate your cooperation on the matter.

  2. Hi, Ms. Cundy. Thank you for contacting me. I have been excerpting Western Standard material for years, with no feedback. I have always tried to observe fair dealing. I never quote an article until your next issue; I always give my source, and links; and I never use the entire article, so that readers will have an incentive to go to your site. In addition, I subscribe to the Standard as at least a token payment for
    my use of your articles.

But I recognize that you have a bottom line to meet, and that you have to adjust your business model accordingly; and of course it is your site and your writers (which have to be paid for). So I've cut the article down to one paragraph, and left the links up; and going forward, if I use the Standard again, I will limit myself to what you've asked for (quoting two paragraphs maximum).

here was no intention of infringing your copyright; and hearing from you, and knowing what you allow, will make it easier not to do so in the future. So, again I would like to thank you for contacting me about this matter.
