Ron and Rand Paul Hit the Campaign Trail in Iowa

Drs. Paul to make five stops

LAKE JACKSON, Texas -- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- The Ron Paul 2012 presidential campaign today announced that Dr. Ron Paul will be joined by his son Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) for a historic two-day, five-stop campaign tour in Iowa [August 10-11]. At the five joint events, the junior senator from the Commonwealth of Kentucky will introduce his father, the 12-term Congressman from Texas’s 14^th District.

In addition, the night prior to the first day of the Pauls’ two-day tour, Congressman Paul will make a visit to Fairfield, Iowa to mingle with area voters.

The duo’s visit is the first known instance of an incumbent U.S. Congressman campaigning for the presidency alongside his son, an incumbent U.S. Senator. Both Pauls are by trade medical doctors, with the senior Dr. Paul an obstetrician who personally delivered more than 4,000 babies and the junior Dr. Paul an accomplished eye surgeon.

"Johnson shared his experiences on the campaign trail with New Hampshire Watchdog during a stop at the Manchester Farmers Market on Thursday.  Yesterday, as the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped more than 500 points, Johnson argued that the debt ceiling deal didn’t fool Wall Street....

“'What politicians could have done is created a certain environment that spending is going to be cut, and the reality is just the opposite, and I think Wall Street is reflecting that,' Johnson said.  'The solution period is stop printing money.  The solution is cutting government spending by 43%.'

"Earlier in the day, he pushed his support for the Fair Tax to replace the federal income tax. Johnson argues that taxing consumption is a less disruptive way for the government to raise the revenue it needs, without punishing productivity. He says consumers can control what they purchase`.
