Libertarian activist Adam Kokesh arrested at home

July 10, 2013 - "Libertarian pro-gun and anti-war activist Adam Kokesh was taken into custody at his Herndon home by the U.S. Park Police Tuesday night, and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.

Kokesh, a former Marine, was charged with possession of drugs while also in possession of a firearm, according to Lt. Steve Elbert, a spokesman for the Fairfax County Sheriff’s Office. Fairfax County court records show two felony charges; Possession of a gun with schedule 1 or 2 drugs; and a second felony drug charge for possession of schedule 1 or 2 drugs. Elbert said Wednesday that Kokesh is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.... U.S. Park Police spokesperson Lt. Pamela Smith said Wednesday that the search warrant was executed by the U.S. Park Police in search of a weapon.

"A July 4 video posted by Kokesh on YouTube shows him loading a shotgun in what appears to be Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C. In the District, possession of a firearm not registered in the District is punishable by up to a year in prison. Smith would not comment on whether the video had anything to do with the search warrant."
