August 15, 2017 - The National Libertarian Party says it stands for freedom for all, but it won't stand for white nationalists.

"The party, considered the fastest growing third party in the country, issued a statement Tuesday asking any white nationalists who belong to the party to leave.

"'There is no room for racists and bigots in the Libertarian Party,' said Libertarian National Committee executive director Wes Benedict. 'If there are white nationalists who — inappropriately — are members of the Libertarian Party, I ask them to submit their resignations today. We don’t want them to associate with the Libertarian Party, and we don’t want their money. I’m not expecting many resignations, because our membership already knows this well.'

"Benedict says the Libertarian Party supports civil liberties, regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation. The party also believes in open borders, racial diversity and free trade -- things he says white nationalists abhor.

"The statement comes in the wake of a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville that turned violent as protesters engaged with some counterprotesters and one suspected white nationalist drove his car into a crowd of counterprotesters, killing one and injuring 19.

"Among the headliners of that 'Unite the Right' Rally was Augustus Invictus, who ran for U.S. Senate as a Libertarian in 2016. At the time his candidacy caused a stir. Florida Libertarian Party Chairman Adrian Wyllie resigned his post because he believed Invictus was a white nationalist who believed in eugenics [and] wanted to start a civil war. Invictus denied the charge....

"Invictus announced he was leaving the Libertarians in July for the Republican Party. He announced Tuesday he is running as a Republican candidate for Senate in Florida in 2018."

"Well, as of July 13, after years of recriminations, resignations, and mutual accusations of bad faith, the L.P. won't have Invictus to kick around anymore. The onetime trouncee in an unusual L.P. primary fight over Florida's U.S. Senate election in 2016 posted a video on his Facebook page, declaring that he was 'Moving from the collegiate levels to the big leagues, and playing to win,' seeking along the way to 'unite the right wing of American politics at long last in order to save our country and our civilization'....

"In May, Invictus and I both gave lunchtime talks at the Florida L.P. 2017 state convention ... after which I had two main takeaways: 1) The Party was clearly rattled by his ongoing presence (and sponsorship), and 2) his apocalyptic, nationalist-populist vision of libertarianism stuck out like a throbbingly sore thumb compared to what I usually encounter at Libertarian gatherings. I do not often hear discussion, however guarded, about 'the genocide of the white race,' from either capital- or small-l libertarians these days.

"Invictus portrays this as the result of 'leftists who have infiltrated and corrupted the Libertarian Party,' leading to an insufficient defense of his chin-leading on the front lines of the Free Speech/AntiFa wars. Most L.P. activists I surveyed counter along the lines of Andy Craig: 'We can only hope his gang of enablers and skinhead fans now follow him back whence they came.' (Libertarian National Committee Chair Nicholas Sarwark simply tweeted, 'May he go in peace.')....

"'We find ourselves afflicted by the deadliest cancer in human history,' Augustus Invictus declares in his mission statement at The Revolutionary Conservative, 'manifest in the twin symptoms of leftism and international finance: in a word, globalism.' It's a diagnosis that has even less resonance within the Libertarian Party in month six of Donald Trump's presidency.

March 25, 2017 - "Terror threats from ANTIFA leftists have put next weekend’s Mid-Atlantic Liberty Festival in jeopardy. After left-libertarians released a call to arms vowing resistance, bomb threats were allegedly called in to the Hilton in Harrisburg, who were forced to cancel the event.

“To me, it is horrifying that in the United States a fringe group can get away with its threats of violence, but such is the world in which we live,” event organizer Steve Scheetz said in a public Facebook post explaining the situation.

"The entire controversy arose after a debate was scheduled between former Libertarian Party Senate hopeful Augustus Invictus and Will Coley of Muslims for Liberty on the issue of border security. ANTIFA-aligned left-libertarians took umbrage with the fact that Invictus, who they allege to be a fascist without any clear evidence, was allowed to speak at the event. Instead of finding a like-minded group that doesn’t respect the values of free speech and free expression, they declared war against the event instead."

August 31, 2016 - "Libertarian voters spoke on Tuesday in an unprecedented party primary in Florida, as Paul Stanton defeated Augustus Invictus and the race was called by Bay News 9 with 92 percent of the state’s voting precincts in.

"As of the time of the election being called by the local affiliate, Stanton held 74 percent of the statewide vote and the voting totals neared 4,000 registered Libertarians....

"'In this historic election we can go from speaking to just Libertarians to spreading Libertarian solutions to all Floridians, our solutions concerning peace, liberty and empowerment,' Stanton said after being declared the winner. 'I’m deeply humbled to be on the same ballot as Governors Gary Johnson and Bill Weld for President and Vice-President.'

"No statewide primary in Florida had ever been held in a Libertarian race. Only Missouri (U.S. Senate) and Alaska (U.S. House seat) also had Libertarian primaries for federal seats.

"The DeLand resident held a watch party in one of the Libertarian hotbeds in Florida — the greater Tampa Bay area. Supporters gathered with Stanton in St. Petersburg and watched as the returns came in."
