Paul inadvertently advertised it in Congress, actually, in 2012 when he whipped one of the film’s promotional silver pieces out of his pocket during a hearing of the House Committee on Financial Services and used it as an object lesson on inflation....

"The story is set in 2019, a mere six years from now, a span of time during which the cost of a loaf of bread has risen to $52 and bars have begun to advertise $90 beer specials. The villainous Federal Reserve’s Department of Housing Stability now evicts the hard-working middle class from their homes in order to regulate market demand."

He’d survived the inevitable civic demonstration, when Brian Menifee, a mechanical engineering senior, tried to unfurl a red and black and green banner reading “Howard University Doesn’t Support White Supremacy.” Menifee, wearing dreadlocks and a He-Man and the Masters of the Universe T-shirt, was yanked out of the room by security as the senator looked on and the audience applauded.

''You know, I wasn’t sure if my speech would be entertaining,' joked Paul.

"That got a laugh. Paul got through his remarks, all about how 'when the time is right, I hope that African-Americans will again look to the party of emancipation, civil liberty, and individual freedom.' April 13, 2013 - "Next Wednesday, former Texas US Rep. Ron Paul will formally announce the creation of a new foreign policy think tank. It will be called the Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity.

"According to the former congressman’s office: 'It will fill the growing demand for information on foreign affairs from a non-interventionist perspective through a lively and diverse website, and will provide unique educational opportunities to university students and others'....

"Paul will be the CEO. Daniel McAdams, who served as a foreign policy adviser to Rep. Paul for several years, will be the executive director. Serving on the board will be Fox News judicial analyst Andrew Napolitano and Faith Whittlsey, the former ambassador to Switzerland under President Ronald Reagan. Also on the board are US Reps. Walter Jones of North Carolina and Jimmy Duncan of Tennessee as well as former Paul staffer Lew Rockwell.

"Another adviser on the board is former Ohio US Rep. Dennis Kucinich. Although a Democrat, Kucinich frequently worked with the Republican Paul on numerous common causes including the defense of civil liberties, restraining presidential war powers, opposition to drones, and Federal Reserve transparency."

April 11, 2013 - "America's biggest third party is accepting donations of the electronic currency through bitpay.com, which converts the donations into U.S. dollars. Given that Bitcoin is sometimes called a 'libertarian fantasy,' it's not so surprising the Libertarian Party would make room for the currency in its fundraising efforts.

"The currency has been gaining popularity as a mechanism for political donations since the fall of 2012, when a Republican New Hampshire state representative became the first major-party politician to accept Bitcoin donations. A libertarian candidate in North Dakota and an independent state senate candidate in Vermont also set up systems to accept Bitcoin donations in the fall. The Libertarian Party of Canada began accepting Bitcoin in March."

April 10: "'Joe Lhota did not seek the Libertarian line and he will not accept it,' spox Susan Del Percio emailed the Daily News this morning in response to a story about the party endorsing Lhota for mayor at its convention Tuesday night. 'While he cannot stop this group from circulating petitions with his name, he will decline the nomination at the earliest possible time under state election law.'

"Lhota ... does have some Libertarian leanings. For example, he believes pot should be decriminalized.... But the former MTA boss and Rudy Giuliani deputy, who's made law and order a cornerstone of his campaign, might have found it a little awkward to appear on the ballot alongside self-proclaimed 'Former Felon' Davis -- who did time at Riker's Island after pleading guilty to promoting prostitution in the scandal that felled former Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
