October 22, 2013 - "Heather Fazio, who serves both as Executive Director at Texans for Accountable Government and Membership Coordinator for the Libertarian Party of Texas alerted Dallas Libertarian Examiner to what's transpiring in Austin at the Texas Water Development Board.
"Essentially, Proposition 6 will divert $2 billion from the Texas Rainy Day Fund into what's being called a 'slush fund' consisting of a 'grab bag' of 526 different water projects statewide.
"The Water Board will then get to choose which projects get the money.
"Opponents contend there is a strong incentive for board members to fund only those projects in which they have vested interests, typically meaning where their own power, money and egos are involved.
"The Nix Prop 6 Facebook page asks whether most of the funds will go for un-sexy and non-moneymaking conservation projects or for wasteful and massively expensive developments – 'real estate interests just love that lake front property' – and for moving groundwater to 'growth corridors' which would harm "
