Libertarian views becoming mainstream in OK GOP

December 8, 2013 - "Eighteenth century thinking is starting to get more traction in Oklahoma’s 21st century government.

"Consider an op/ed column written by state Rep. Lewis Moore last week.

"The national government has gotten 'too big for its britches,' the Arcadia Republican says, and nothing less than liberty and the integrity of the republic are at stake.

"Moore’s column is worth looking at because it’s a pretty pure expression of the Madisonian libertarian strain that is getting louder and louder at the state Capitol, especially in the state House of Representatives....

"Moore describes a broad array of programs — from airport security to Medicare — as part of the 'nationalization of the United States of America'....

“He advocates two steps: sharply limiting the authority of the IRS and state refusal of federal money for 'central government controlled programs' that are funded with national debt financing."
