Freshman Congressman Justin Amash says Washington, D.C. is more dysfunctional than Lansing | MLive.com - Jim Harger, Grand Rapids Press, Aug. 29, 2011:

"When he arrived in Congress as a freshman this year, U.S. Rep. Justin Amash says he thought he would find less dysfunction than he saw in Lansing, where he served one term in the state House....

"In a 17-minute interview with WZZM-TV13, the Cascade Township Republican said Lansing looks much better....

"'That's been a surprise to me,” said Amash, the 2nd youngest member of Congress at age 31. 'When I was in the state government, I thought things were dysfunctional there.... Now I've discovered things in Congress are much worse than in state government and the state government runs fairly smoothly by comparison,' Amash said, adding that 'not everyone takes things as seriously as they should in my opinion.'"
