September 23, 2012 - "On Wednesday, Seacoast political candidates Kevin Kervick and Brendan Kelly both attended a rally in Durham to support their presidential choice, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson, the Libertarian Party candidate.

When Kervick and Kelly returned to their campaigns — Kervick is running for a state representative seat in Portsmouth and Kelly is making a bid for the 1st District Congressional seat — they faced different challenges. Kervick is supporting a Libertarian for president but is running as a Republican.... Kelly, of Seabrook, said he is remaining true to his political philosophy and running as a Libertarian....

"Kervick, who has been endorsed by the Republican Liberty Caucus of New Hampshire, said he has no problem running as a Republican in New Hampshire for both pragmatic and philosophical reasons.... He believes Republican leaders in the Legislature should be congratulated for their efforts to cut spending and shrink the role of government.

"On the other hand, Kervick said he couldn't support either major-party presidential candidate, President Barack Obama or former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney.... 'At the national level, they (Republicans) talk a good game about cuts, but they use government to fund the things they like,' he said."
