Libertarian Super PAC pledges ‘six to seven figures’ for Amash Senate run

Libertarian Super PAC Encourages Amash Senate Run, Pledges ‘Six to Seven Figures’ - By Robert Costa - The Corner - National Review Online:

February 15, 2013 - "Liberty for All, a libertarian super PAC, says it’ll put 'six to seven figures' behind Justin Amash, should he run for Senate next year.

"'If he runs, he can count on six to seven figures,' says Preston Bates, the super PAC’s executive director, in an interview with National Review Online. 'He represents a fresh start for a state whose economy has been devastated by sugar-high economics and crony capitalism.'

"NRO broke the news on Thursday that Amash, a 32-year-old Michigan Republican, is seriously considering a bid. Democrat Carl Levin, the incumbent, is up for reelection in 2014, but he is reportedly considering retirement.

"John Ramsey, a 22-year-old venture capitalist, has poured millions into Liberty for All, which he founded after supporting Ron Paul’s presidential campaign."

Tea party groups, libertarian Super Pac vow to challenge McConnell re-election bid | WHAS11.com Louisville:

January 23, 2013 - "LOUISVILLE, Ky (WHAS11) -- With speculation rising about actress Ashley Judd challenging U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) in the 2014 general election as a Democrat, Kentucky's senior senator is also hearing some footsteps from the right.

"The leader of a coalition of 14 Kentucky tea party groups, United Kentucky Tea Party,  said Wednesday he is considering mounting a primary challenge against McConnell.... Now, the libertarian Super Pac Liberty for All, which spent $700,000 of Texas college student John Ramsey's inheritance to help elect Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie last year, is also vowing to unseat McConnell.

Ron Paul Ally Kerry Bentivolio Gets Super-PAC Aid in Congressional Bid

Ron Paul Ally Kerry Bentivolio Gets Super-PAC Aid in Congressional Bid Thomas R. Eddlem, The New Ameican:

August 2, 2012 - "Michigan congressional candidate Kerry Bentivolio ... will get a leg up in his battle against the GOP establishment in next week's Republican primary election, courtesy of the Ron Paul movement-aligned Liberty For All Super-PAC. The SuperPAC — headed by 21-year-old Texas financial heir John Ramsey — has committed an estimated $300,000 (already spending some $130,000, according to OpenSecrets.org) to support Bentivolio in his primary race over establishment write-in candidate Nancy Cassis.

"Bentivolio — a teacher and part-time reindeer farmer — committed to the race earlier in the year when victory seemed all but impossible. The Tea Party-aligned Bentivolio faced a quixotic but daunting primary against five-term incumbent Thaddeus McCotter in this district in the northwest suburbs of Detroit, but the eccentric McCotter surprisingly failed to gain enough signatures to make the ballot for reelection. The result was that Bentivolio, a Tea Party candidate with similar positions to Ron Paul, emerged as the only Republican on the August 7 primary ballot in this heavily Republican district and the favorite to succeed McCotter."

Young millionaire's PAC hires Ron Paul staffers

Young millionaire's PAC hires Ron Paul staffers - Houston Chronicle - Roger Alford, Associated Press:

June 19, 2012 - "A political group that helped sway a Kentucky congressional primary last month has beefed up its staff with former Ron Paul campaign aides in hopes of electing more libertarian-leaning candidates this fall.

"Liberty For All Political Action Committee, financed largely by millionaire college student John Ramsey, spent more than $500,000 on TV ads in Kentucky to help Republican Thomas Massie win the 4th District GOP nomination in May.

"The super PAC's executive director, Preston Bates, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Chris Kuper has signed on as political director. Kuper had served as Paul's liaison for national coalitions. Bates said several other Paul aides also were added, including Jared Chicoine as senior adviser, Kate Schackai as press secretary, and Jordan Brown as senior researcher....

"The group is now turning its sights on a Michigan congressional race this fall, backing freshman Rep. Justin Amash's re-election. It plans to continue being involved in the Massie race, and as many as 10 others that haven't yet been announced."

Grandfather’s Millions Make Paul Fan a Political Player - Bloomberg

Grandfather’s Millions Make Paul Fan a Political Player - Bloomberg - Greg Giroux:

May 23, 2012 - "John Ramsey became old enough to buy a Carlsberg nine months ago. The 21-year-old college student from east Texas isn’t old enough to serve in Congress. His intellectual role model, U.S. Texas Representative Ron Paul, has been in Congress 22 years -- longer than Ramsey has been alive.

"Yet, Ramsey is leaving a mark on U.S. politics that may outlast his political mentor and presidential candidate, Paul. The college senior spent $1.3 million of his own money to create a super-political action committee, Liberty for All Super PAC, that backs candidates who endorse what Ramsey calls “freedom philosophy.” The dogma includes policies championed by Paul, such as supporting free-market economics, protecting civil liberties, slashing government spending and opposing most U.S. military action.

"Ramsey’s super-PAC passed its first test on May 22. It spent more than $561,000 on television and radio ads to help Tom Massie, a Kentucky engineer, defeat two experienced politicians in a House Republican primary election. Ramsey’s super-PAC spent more than any of the candidates."
