November 7, 2013 - "The first known Libertarian to hold office in Schuylkill County was elected Tuesday.
"Shawn Felty, chairman of the Libertarian Party of Schuylkill County, was elected to the Cressona borough council....
In an interview ... Felty said that he was the only Libertarian on the ballot in the whole county, and he doesn't know when the last Libertarian was elected to office in Schuylkill County.
"'We didn't even have an organized Libertarian party in Schuylkill County for the last several years, maybe for 10 years,' he said. 'We just really got things going this year. There are registered Libertarians in the county, I think it's, like, 400, but last year there was only, like, one paid member. And now we have about 15'....
"[I]n a letter to the editor in June, George H. Bauscher, vice chairman of the Libertarian Party of Schuylkill County, said that Libertarians believe in, and pursue, personal freedom while maintaining personal responsibility.
"He also wrote that Libertarians strongly oppose any government interfering in people's personal, family and business decisions, and all Americans should be free to live their lives and pursue their interests as they see fit as long as they do no harm to another."
